The Dual Function of Globalization

While globalization has removed economic and political control from the local and national level, it has allowed social development to transcend its local and national limitations and develop a global consciousness that has brought us closer together.

    I think globalization has its pros and cons. What I dislike about globalization is that some societies are losing the very essence of what makes them unique, it seems as if now they are being influenced by Western culture and losing their own. However, globalization has had many positive effects in our world. We are a more knowledgable people, exposed to different cultures, ideas, and ways of life.

    Professor, you are correct about how globilization brings the world closer together. However it also opens roads to exploitation by big budget corporations. That goes hand in hand with economic flow being moved from the local and national level to the international level.
