Global Corporate Domination (part 1)

The first phase of this globalization process has placed us at the mercy of corporations where we must accept the economic and political decisions they make in their own interests, yet also determine our own personal and social health and welfare as well as that of our natural environment. This globalization process has also given us a corporate world that has placed us at the mercy of corporations that we have no direct political control over.

What Is Globalization

I will begin my global presentation by stating that each age is a reflection of its own time and globalization is no different.

For the first time in history our global problems have outstripped our national problems as a result of globalization.

The Economist magazine has called globalization “the most abused word of the 21st century.” No word in recent memory has meant so many things to different people. Some see it as a form of domination by transnational institutions that can only lead to a new kind of chaos. Others see it as a form of nirvana, a blessed state of universal peace and prosperity.

Since its first appearance in 1962 the term ‘globalization’ has gone from jargon to cliché. Globalization as defined by Webster’s dictionary, is “a process that renders various activities and aspirations worldwide in scope or application.”

Globalization Is Bringing Us Altogether

What I would like to present in my next group of blogs is the idea of globalism. The twentieth century has been the century that has brought the world closer together. Radio, moves, television and now the Internet have given the world an increasing common identity that has provided us with personal experiences that we can all identify with.  This global personal identity has been increased by the common global problems that we are all experiencing.

From the beginning of human history each age has been a reflection of the problems that formed it. Today is no exception. The problems that we are encountering today are global in nature and, therefore, require global solutions to resolve them. Achieving a global solution will herald in a new global world in which we will come to see that we are all members of a common human family with a common destiny that will lead us all. My up coming blogs will deal with this new globalization process and how we have come to this point as well as where it will take us.

Global Awareness

This year is the year of change. The global 99% movement and the Wall Street occupation movement as well as the other occupation movements have given us a global awareness that has ignited a call for global freedom and change that cannot be stopped.  We are coming to see that our common human problems are showing us that we are all members of the same human race with the same human conditions. This has provided us with a global awareness in which we see our growing similarities eclipse our perceived national and ethnic differences.

Organizing The Concerns Of Wall Street Protestors

The occupy Wall Street protestors have brought to the attention of the nation and the world the many different reasons the people have for wanting a better system that can provide for the needs of all.  As the protest movement continues, the reason that caused people to join the protest was the concerns that they had for their own future and the future of their country and the world.

To organize the concerns of the protestors they must be arranged into groups dedicated to meeting their common concerns. Each group of common concerns would then appoint or, if necessary, hire the representatives capable of lobbying on their behalf those public and private institutions that they wish to influence.

The groups of similar common concerns contained in every location of the nation and the world would then link together and form local, regional, national and international groups capable of applying political pressure at every level of human society. Then each common concern would be organized from the local level to the national level and even the international level, which would allow every concern to be able to coordinate its actions at all levels of political society.

Our Global Problems Bring People Together

How we see ourselves determines how we act.  When we see ourselves strictly in terms of our nationality, we become blinded by it.  Global problems require a global way of thinking, which is not possible through strictly a national understanding of ourselves. Our global problems are uniting the people of the world through the common global experiences that they have created. Our common global experiences have given us a common global understanding that we now all share on a global level. This global understanding transcends our national understandings and the longer this occurs the more global we will become and the less national in character.

The global crisis and disasters that we are experiencing have given us global problems that have provided us with a global understanding of ourselves. These global problems are forcing the world to come together in a global manner in order to deal with them. The global problems of the world have created global needs that can only be resolved through global means. The global problems of tomorrow’s world will require us to organize ourselves in global ways. This will necessitate independent global institutions be formed to effectively apply them fairly if we are going to meet the global needs ahead of us.

Globalization Is About Bring Us Together

Our problems are a result of our national forms of organization no longer being able to meet our current global needs. How we organize ourselves determines how we see ourselves. This then determines our relationships with one another. We now live in a world of differences based on nationality. Therefore, we identify ourselves in national terms, which tells us that we are different from each other.

To meet our common global needs in the future we need to live in a world where we see our similarities.  By living in a global world based on our similarities, we will then come to see that our differences are actually the variety that humanity has been able to produce. At the level of globalization our differences would first become our varieties and then our similarities. By seeing ourselves on a global level, we will come to see that we are interconnected and the sum total of all of our national and ethnic identities and cultural experiences.

When The Need For Change Becomes Self-Evident

There are times in human history when the need for change becomes so self-evident that change is not only assured but is only a matter of time. This is such a time! Today we need a totally different type of government system if we are to achieve the global institutions that we will need to meet our problems. With the global problems that we are facing we need to have available to us different global ways of resolving our problems.

Meeting our global problems would require different types of global institutions to exist at the same time and this would be achieved through a system of civil and political entrustments. Civil and political entrustments would be contractual governments that would entrust us together. This contractual form of entrusted government would provide us with a way of quickly establishing the types of governments that are desired by the public when and where they were needed.

Our Global Problems Require Global Solutions

The problems that we are currently experiencing are global in nature, which require a global infrastructure to meet global solutions. We can no longer live in a finite world within political systems based on universal competition. We need to learn to live globally in a sustainable way in which we can grow in a responsible way within the limits provided to us by the natural environment that we all depend on. Global solutions require global institutions designed to deal with them. What I will be presenting in my next series of blogs are ways of creating the global institutions necessary to meet the global problems that we are now facing and that we are going to be increasingly facing in the future.

New Times Require New Methods of Organizing Ourselves

The upheaval in the world today requires that we reorganize ourselves in ways that would make the system work for us instead of us for those in positions of power. History has organized people according to the needs of those in charge and not the people that they claim to represent. Today a new method of organizing ourselves is required. In the past mankind organized itself for defense from one another.

Today times have changed. Now we need to organize ourselves in ways that will bring us together instead of keeping us a part. This will require us to circumvent those that feel that it is their duty to determine the direction that everyone should take. Organizing ourselves to gain from a new tomorrow that will be designed to bring us together must be based on individual freedom and responsibility. This individual freedom and responsibility must be linked and applicable to all.

This can only be done in a system of organization designed to make the members within it responsible to one another for the reasons that they would have associated themselves together for. This system of organization would also have to be controlled by those that it was meant to serve. This will require that it be formed by those that actually need their services. It will also require that these same organizations be disposable and only have a life span determined by those that they were meant to serve.

This could be provided by a system of organization in which people would politically entrust themselves together in order to achieve their common purpose. By entrusting our relationships together, we would be able to organize ourselves in ways that would benefit those within the relationship because it would be formed to meet the needs of those that it was designed to service. This is what my system of Cooperativism is all about.
